About Us

August, 2017 - Marty, Travis, JohnDavid, Carson, Bethany, Rebekah, Callie, Caleb

Hello, my name is Marty and I've been married to my wonderful husband Travis for 26 years.  =)  We are Baptists, conservative, and are raising our children to put God first in their lives.  All our children have accepted Christ and love the Lord and love going to church!  We are so blessed!!  My children were homeschooled K5-12, and all have graduated.

March, 2015 - Rebekah (middle) age 20; JohnDavid & Bethany, almost 18

My oldest daughter, Rebekah, is now 23 and married her husband Caleb in January, 2014.  In December, 2014, they had a baby girl!!  And in June, 2016, they added a happy little boy.
They are serving the Lord together in the music ministry in their church.

December, 2016

JohnDavid and Bethany are my twins, and are 20 years old.  Bethany graduated early, and in the fall of 2014, began Bible college in Tennessee, while JohnDavid finished his senior year of highschool.  She didn't come home the first summer but toured over the summer with a singing group from her college.  We had her for only 7 days in August before she went back.  The spring semester of 2016, she went on a mission trip to the UK, along with other students.  (Read more here).  The next 2 summers were spent working at the camp at her college in TN, so she hasn't been home a lot in the past few years...  She is now in her senior year of college.  JohnDavid really misses his twin!!

In 2015, JohnDavid began a job working on automobiles and loved it.  He has a natural gift and progressed quickly.  Later in his job, he began to develop some reactions to some oil, etc, that he encountered at work.  He kept working, trying to wear long sleeves when possible, and keep his arms from touching certain surfaces, but when you are reaching way around engines and other car parts, to get to something, it is unavoidable.  In the fall of 2016, he knew God was wanting him to quit his job.  Just a few weeks later, October, 2016, God called him to be a preacher.  In June, 2017, he announced that God had called him to be a missionary to France.  He said he doesn't know how or when, but he knows that's what God has called him to do.  He is continuing to serve the Lord day by day.
Please be in prayer for him as he continues to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's guiding, and as he serves the Lord.

Age 16 on our vacation

Age 17 - aren't they good looking??  lol  =D

Age 18

My girls and my niece Abigail sing together as The Hawks Trio.  It is a little more difficult to coordinate things since the girls are in three different churches now, and with two of them attending college out of state, but they do sing together when home.

Abigail, Rebekah, Bethany

JohnDavid can sing too!  The Hawks Trio were scheduled to sing at Rebekah & Caleb's church in May, 2017.  Abigail was unable to sing, so JohnDavid filled in.
Click up to about 24 minutes.
(And that's my son-in-law leading the congregation and choir!)

I love my family!! ♥♥♥

December, 2014   You can see a tiny bit of my son's personality here.  =)  All my kids are fun!

  1. Marty - may I ask how you have a "home" page on blogger? I'm trying to make a website for our co-op where we will have individual pages for each class and but blogger always wants to put each post on the home page...I see you use blogger, but yours functions more like a website.

    1. Sure! There are Pages, and there are Posts. Pages are the titles across the top, and Posts are the articles, etc. that show on the Home page and move down when you post new ones.
When you create your first new Page, it automatically generates a Home page so you can get back there.

Go to blogger.com, and when signed in, beside the name of your blog, you will see an orange button to make a new post. Do not click that, but click the down arrow, and choose Pages. Give it a title, and create your content. If it doesn't show up after you Publish the Page, you will go to that down arrow again, and click Layout. Find the rectangle that is Pages, and click Edit, and checkmark the pages you want to show. You can also rearrange their order. Remember to Save. =)

Usually, pages are for things that you want to always stay there, and not update much.
Info that will be posted on a regular basis can be put into a Post (rather than a Page), and will move down as new things are posted. And these will all be on the home page.

Let me know if you have questions. And I'd love a link to your blog, if you wouldn't mind. =)

    2. Thanks so much Marty for your help. So I've made the pages - but what confuses me is that say I post something for our Biology class - I want it to show up on the Biology page but not our home page. (it seems to me that your blog is like that.... By the way - I love all the resources and ideas you post!) Is there a trick to getting a post to go to a certain page?

    3. Thank you! =)
Each new post was posted on the Home page. (After posting, I put a link to it on the Biology page.) If you were to scroll down on the Home page and keep going back for several years, you would see some of these posts. They would have been difficult to find except I made links to them on my Biology, etc. pages.
To make a link to an individual post, you would go to that post on the home page, and click just the title. Then the only post that will be on the page is that one particular post.
The URL (or address, link, etc. whatever one chooses to call it) will be at the top where the web address appears. Copy/paste that link and put it on your Page so it will link back to your post. Then when you post more and more things, that post, and others, can still be accessed easily without hunting.
